Tucson police have arrested 27-year-old Nathan Mayo for the shooting death of 17-year-old Carl Thompson.
On May 17, Mayo was spotted on foot in the area of East 22nd Street and South Harrison Road. After a brief foot pursuit and well-coordinated effort between agencies, Mayo was taken into custody without incident.
Mayo was booked into the Pima County Jail on one count of Second Degree Murder.
An arrest warrant for Mayo was issued on May 15.
On May 8, a woman was dropped off at the Jack in the Box located at 305 W. Grant by Mayo to meet with her boyfriend and his family.
While in the parking lot an argument occurred between Mayo, the boyfriend, and the boyfriend's brother, 17-year-old Carl Thompson.
During the argument, Mayo pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the boyfriend before shooting Thompson.
He then fled the scene his vehicle.
Thompson was transported to Banner UMC with life-threatening injuries and died on May 13 as a result of his injuries.
