A man is dead after reports of multiple shots fired shut down 12th Avenue near Irvington Saturday night.
The victim has been identified as 61-year-old Anthony Quintela. Tucson Police say Quintela was transported the Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries but was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at the hospital.
Police say the shots were fired around 8:30 p.m. after an armed robbery occurred at the Raspados Funland located at 702 W. Irvington.
Sgt. Dugan with TPD says an unknown Hispanic man entered the business, showed his firearm to the cashier, stole money, and then left the store.
As the man left the business, entering the parking lot, a customer confronted him and they both exchanged gunfire. The customer's father, Anthony Quintela, was hit by a bullet amidst the gunfire. The customer was not injured.
The suspect left the scene and has not been found.
TPD says that multiple witnesses were interviewed by officers and more information will be available soon.
