TUCSON, Ariz. - The Tucson Police Department says Irvington Road is shut down from Park Avenue to Campbell Friday night, after two separate crashes in the area.

In the first incident Friday evening, Tucson Police say a car crashed into a power pole at Irvington Avenue and Mountain Avenue. The pole caught fire and caused a nearly 2,000 customer power outage.

Police say the driver of that car left the scene, but was later found by officers. They are conducting a DUI investigation on that driver.

Around the same time, but in an unrelated incident, a pedestrian was hit by a truck near Irvington and Campbell. Police say it was a hit-and-run, and the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk.

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. On Saturday afternoon, police said 59-year-old Mark Anthony Valenzuela died of his injuries.

Police say Irvington will be shut down from Park to Campbell for the next few hours due to both incidents.
