Instagram is showing no sign of slowing down, and it's now running circles around Snapchat.
The social network announced that more than 400,000,000 people are using the "Stories" feature each day, which is up from 250,000,000 a year ago.
By contrast, Snapchat only saw 191,000,000 active users a day during the last quarter.
Back when Instagram launched the feature in 2016, many Snapchat users saw it as a clone, but that's not the case now.
Just eight months after its launch, Instagram stories surpassed Snapchat's daily active user count and continues to climb in usage.
Instagram continues to add features, too. The app has the ability to add GIFs and mention friends in posts, but, not to be outdone, Snapchat has added those features as well.
One of Instagram's newest additions is the ability to video chat with more than one person at a time.
You can now video chat in Instagram Direct, either 1:1 or in a group. Learn more here: https://t.co/UxH6D2B7Xa pic.twitter.com/uJ8p7kG6aU

To start a video chat:
- Go into your Direct inbox and open any message thread
- Tap the new camera icon in the right corner
- The video chat will ring your friends’ phones
- While on the video chat, you can minimize the video and multitask on Instagram
You can also video chat with up to four people at a time, and the video will expand as more friends join in on the call.
