TUCSON, Ariz. - An improvement project near Congress Street between Silverbell Road and Grande Avenue will start Monday.
Crews will start the project starting at 5:00 a.m. drivers traveling westbound on Congress Street between Silverbell Road and Grande Avenue will be moved to the north side of the road.
Construction crews will be milling asphalt and sub-grade on the south side of the roadway.
Silverbell Road at Congress Street will be closed to all drivers traveling eastbound. Traffic traveling westbound will have access from Congress Street to Silverbell Road.
Those traveling eastbound must detour at St. Mary's Road.
The detour will last for about two weeks while crews work to finish the improvements on the south side of Congress Street.
Crews will be working Monday through Friday at 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with occasional evening work.
There will be electronic traffic control signs to warn drivers of the St. Mary's Road detour.
Drivers traveling in the area can expect delays.
All drivers are asked to use caution in the area as there will be signs, crews, and equipment .
The Tucson Delivers Better Streets is a $100 million improvement program.
