Hundreds of Tucson women volunteered with Habitat for Humanity Tucson and Lowe's this week to help build affordable housing in local communities.
National Women Build Week is from May 5 to May 13 this year and is a way for women to gain skills in home construction and to build up communities nationwide.
This year, volunteers in Tucson will be building six homes and performing a neighborhood improvement project at the current Habitat Tucson construction site in the Barrio Nopal/Desert Vista neighborhood, according to a Habitat for Humanity media release.
Volunteers worked at the build site, 6909 S. Radec Lane, on the following days:
- Wednesday, May 9, from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Saturday, May 12, from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
