A house fire in a neighborhood on the northwest side is causing traffic delays according to the Northwest Fire Department.
The house is in the 3300 block of West Bright Terrace.
According to Northwest Fire, units arrived on the scene at 3:10 p.m. and found a car in the carport and the carport itself fully engulfed in flames.
Crews later learned that the fire spread into the homes attic and a large natural gas leak was present at the connection point to the home near the carport. Firefighters brought the fire under control and secured the gas leak at 4:23 p.m.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and it is unclear if the gas leak was present before the fire or if it occurred during it.
The three residents in the home and their dog who were in the home when the fire started were able to escape unharmed.
