Hotel Congress is getting recognized as a leader in sustainability on Wednesday.
The hotel is part of the Certified Green Lodging Program developed by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and Arizona Lodging and Tourism Association.
By installing eco-friendly technology, Hotel Congress has saved more than 1.5 million gallons of water since 2007, according to a media release from ADEQ.
Hotel Congress was also the first Tucson business in the program to join One Less Straw, a non-profit dedicated to reducing the use of plastic straws worldwide.
This year, September 17 through September 21 is pollution prevention week.
