TUCSON, Ariz. — It was all about tamales today at Casino Del Sol at its 14th Annual Tamale Festival.

Right when you walked into the amphitheater, you were greeted with a booth selling tamales made of Hot Cheetos.

This creative dish was created by Diego's Tapas y Tequila. This is the restaurant's first year setting up shop inside the Tamale Festival and it wanted to make quite the first impression.

“We’ve had a lot of positive feedback with the tamales. They were skeptical at first, but one of the genius employees here wanted to hand out samples. So we started handing out samples and from there everybody started getting on board with it and they just love the concept.”

The basic masa taste of a tamale with some spice and crunch. Rivera says the nacho cheese on top gives it the perfect blend.

“We wanted to infuse flavors and do a little twist on tamales, and that was our main focus and to bring something different to the Tamale Festival," said Rivera.

Rivera plans on continuing this special in its restaurant on University Blvd.

"Who knows what we’ll come up with next week," said Rivera.
