On July 6, South Tucson Police Department detectives arrested Jose K. Chavez, a 30-year-old male, for Second Degree Murder without incident.

UPDATE 06/18

A witness, who did not wish to be identified, shared he saw the conflict escalate before the shooting Monday morning. The Sixth Avenue Suites resident said an argument started Sunday night around 11 p.m. at his apartments.

“Then they finished it off this morning," said the witness. "And then at 5 o’clock this morning they started running off and fighting.”

South Tucson Police confirmed there were reports of gunshots at 4:17 a.m., which is around the same time the witness first heard shots fired.

“I heard 15 gunshots,” he said.

South Tucson Police Department took over the investigation. The victim has still not been identified.
