TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) Some homes were evacuated and neighborhood streets shut down after a shooting in midtown.

Sgt. Kimberly Bay with the Tucson Police Department says it happened around 5:30 p.m. on the 2600 block of Edith.

There was a fight between a man and a woman, Bay said, and the woman was shot and transported to the hospital where she is in stable condition.

The male suspect was in a home in the area for hours and around 10:15 p.m. Bay says the male suspect was found dead inside a shed in a property with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police say the man and the woman are acquaintances but the exact relationship is unclear.

There were multiple officers on scene including the SWAT crews and the bomb squad.
