Hiker dies after being struck by lightning on Humphreys Peak

According to the Coconino County Sheriff's Office a 17-year-old male hiker is dead after being struck by lightning near the summit of Humphrey's Peak. 

The 17-year-old has been identified as Wade Young. 

Two other males aged 17 and 18 have been transported to the Flagstaff Medical Center with injuries that were likely due to their proximity to the lightening strike.

The 18-year-old is David Lyons. The name of the other 17-year-old is not being released because he is a minor. 

The 911 call came in just before 1 Wednesday afternoon. The three hikers are from Tempe, Arizona.

Emergency responders were staged at Agassiz Lodge due to severe and continuous lightning on the peaks.
