Crews from Tucson Fire and the Northwest Fire District rescued an injured hiker from Bowman Trail behind the Starr Pass Resort, according to Capt. Brian Keeley, spokesman for the Northwest Fire District.

Keeley said the hiker, an adult woman in her 50's, had an injury that was non-life-threatening but inhibited the hiker from making it off the trail unassisted.

Members from the Tucson Fire Department were the first units to arrive on scene and reached the woman to perform treatment.

Keeley said the woman was determined to be in the Northwest Fire District and a Northwest Fire Technical Rescue arrived on scene to assist in bringing the hiker down the trail.

The woman was safely rescued from the trail and transported to a local hospital to evaluate an injury, Keeley said.

The woman and a fellow hiker had water and a cell phone which allowed for quick notification of 9-1-1 and assistance in locating the injured hiker.
