MARICOPA, Ariz. (AP) - State Route 347 through part of Maricopa will be closed for four hours early Monday morning so construction crews can make final preparations for the scheduled opening of a new highway overpass.
The Arizona Department of Transportation said detour signs will direct motorists around the closure area while SR 347 is closed between 12:01 a.m.-4 a.m. in advance of the opening of the new structure that will carry highway traffic over Union Pacific railroad tracks.
The overpass will replace the current at-grade crossing that is often blocked by passing freight trains.
SR 347 is major connector between metro Phoenix and Interstate 8
