QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a Maricopa County Sheriff's deputy is hospitalized in serious but stable condition after being struck by a pickup truck in Queen Creek.

Sheriff's officials haven't released the 54-year-old deputy's name but say he's a 10-year department veteran.

They say the deputy was transported to a Chandler hospital for treatment of multiple, potentially life-threatening injuries Wednesday night.

Sheriff's officials also didn't identify the driver of the vehicle that struck the deputy but say the driver stayed at the scene.

They also say impairment and driver distraction aren't considered factors in the incident.

The crash occurred about 6 p.m. Wednesday, about 25 hours after a Salt River Police Department officer was fatally injured near Scottsdale when struck by a vehicle during a traffic stop on the Loop 101 freeway.
