ALPINE, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - The Devil's Highway they called it, but nowadays it is knows as Hannagan Meadow.
Elevation: 9,100 feet. Enough to make you feel light headed and at this altitude, the snow stacks higher and lasts a little longer.
The Arizona Mushers Association holds a race called Hannagan Howl and they call it that for a good reason.
The dogs are revved to run for miles.
From malamutes to muts, even an Irish Setter in the mix. Each dog pulling much more than its own weight. Up the mountain and down the trails.
One of the beautiful sights of winter in Arizona.
