PHOENIX (AP) - Maricopa County prosecutors say a gang member has been sentenced to seven years in prison for making threats against police on social media.

They say 37-year-old Joseph Eschief pleaded guilty to two counts of threatening and intimidating and one count of participating in a criminal street gang.

Prosecutors say Eschief posted messages on social media directing other gang members to start committing acts of violence from April to July in 2017.

The posts also included videos showing photographs of police department members that were intended to intimidate, threaten and incite acts of violence specifically toward Salt River Police officers on tribal land near Scottsdale.

Eschief's actions were identified through an FBI task force.
