Gabby Giffords and Mayor Rothschild rally to support "Drive For Our Lives"

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords will be speaking this morning at a press conference to support "Drive For Our Lives."

She is expected to talk to community leaders and activists about opposing attempts to remove health care from millions of Americans.

This rally is part of a five week long bus tour that began July 29, according to a "Drive For Our Lives," press release. The bus tour will visit over 18 states, sharing stories about Americans who have had their health care coverage threatened under health care repeal bills and efforts to eradicate the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

According to a "Drive For Our Lives," press release":

"As this administration continues to push their disastrous effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA), speakers will join the Tucson community in rejecting careless and cruel attempts to take health insurance away from millions of families. All Americans should have access to quality, affordable health care—and all elected representatives must protect the health and financial security of their constituents."

Giffords will be joined by Mayor Jonathon Rothschild, navy combat veteran and retired NASA astronaut, Captain Mark Kelly, Center for American Progress senior fellow, Topher Spiro, and health care activist, Steve Gomez.

The press conference will be held at 10 a.m. at the Planned Parenthood located at 2255 N. Wyatt Drive.
