YUCCA VALLEY, Calif. — Some Arizona firefighters are currently in California, on standby to help battle the wildfires.

A crew from Fry Fire District in Sierra Vista headed out on Oct. 9.

KGUN9 spoke with firefighter James Wallace over the phone, who is one of the four members of the crew there. They're in the Yucca Valley, which is by Joshua Tree National Park.

Wallace says the crew is patrolling the area, incase wildland teams need extra help.

He says just about every year in the fall, Fry Fire sends crews to California once winds pick up and fire danger increases.

"I think we all know that at some point, we are going to California for a fire," Wallace said. "It's just one of the more regular places we do go when our fire season's over, after the monsoons."

Wallace says the crew plans on being in California for at least another week.
