Freedom Festival kicks off MLK celebrations

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Hundreds of people showed up for an early celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  The 7th annual Freedom Festival honors the late civil rights leader by brining together different cultures from all over the world. 

The event is put on by the Grace to the Nations church on Pima Street. The annual festival is a cultural expression of a variety of nations including Poland, Latin America, Ireland, Israel, Middle Eastern, European and African countries.

Performances include Folkloric Dance, Polish Folk Ensemble, Syrian Violinist, Goshen Ministries, Irish Dance, Martial Arts, Gospel Music and more. 

International dishes consist of cuisines from Africa, China, Chile, Poland, Mexico and various states across the US.

The event is free and open to the public. The festival is set to run until 8 p.m.
