A Free Water Safety Expo is taking place Saturday night at Kino Sports Complex.
The event is a part of Drowning Impact Awareness Month.
The expo will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will include information on swim lessons, boating, bathtubs, monsoon, spas, CPR demonstrations, sun protection, drains, fencing, flood preparation, rescue equipment, fire engines and more.
A showing of the film Finding Dory will follow the expo at 7:15 p.m.
The Pima County Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation says that learning water safety is crucial.
“Every child drowning is preventable, and August is a peak time for child drownings in Arizona,” Grant Bourguet, NRPR recreation program manager, said. “While we want everyone to continue to enjoy various aquatic opportunities from backyard swimming pools, to lakes and oceans, it is imperative that everyone learns the importance of safety in and around the water. You are helping save a life!”
