Free pet microchipping ahead of the Fourth of July

Posted

July fourth is a festive day of celebration for people, but can be the scariest day of the year for pets.

In anticipation of the Fourth of July holiday, when hundreds of pets get scared at the sound of fireworks and stray from their homes, Pima Animal Care Center is offering free microchipping to all pets until July 3.

Microchipping gives families a better chance to reunite with their pets in the event they become lost. According to a press release, In 2017, between July 4 –8, PACC took in about 170 strays and of those, fewer than 30 were returned to owner.

Every day through July 3rd pet owners can visit PACC at 4000 N. Silverbell Road from 3pm to 5pm to get their pet microchipped. No appointment is necessary.
