TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Homeless children in Tucson and Pima County received help today with the gift of a free backpack.
The backpacks arrived in Marana on Wednesday for distribution not only there, but also in the Tucson Unified, Amphi and Sunnyside School Districts.
Cindy Ruich says everything comes from an organization called "Feed the Children," with the goal of making sure every child has a chance to succeed.
"They're receiving backpacks and within that backpack is school supplies, there's binders, there's notebooks, there's crayons, various things for the different levels... so some geared for elementary, some for secondary backpacks so they might little different supplies, but not radically different," she said.
The backpacks will be distributed throughout the year to students experiencing hardship.
