Former University of Arizona professor pleads guilty to theft

A former university of Arizona professor accused of defrauding the school has pleaded guilty to a theft charge and will be sentenced Nov. 21.

John A. Marchello, who worked for the school for about 50 years before retiring, originally faced 10 felony counts in 2014 after police raided his offices at the UA meat lab, where students sold butchered livestock a thte agriculture center on Campbell.

Marchello allegedly redirected thousands of dollars from the enterprise into personal accounts.
