Former U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick is considering a possible run next year for Arizona's 2nd Congressional District.
Kirkpatrick opened an exploratory committee, ahead of a run for the Democratic nomination.
She previously represented Arizona's 1st Congressional District, from 2009 to 2011, and again from 2013 to 2016, when she unsuccessfully ran against Sen. John McCain for a U.S. Senate seat.
The Democratic winner of the 2nd Congressional District race will race Republican U.S. Rep. Martha McSally, who is in her second term.
If Kirkpatrick runs, she will face a crowded primary field. Nine Democrats have announced they are running or are considering a run.
