Roads have reopened following a fatal pedestrian collision on Thursday morning.
Sgt. Pete Dugan, spokesperson with the Tucson Police Department said First Avenue was shut down in both directions from Grant to Alturas while officers investigated the collision.
Dugan said 53-year-old Louis Leyba began crossing 1st Avenue, just north of Grant when he was struck by a vehicle headed northbound.
The pedestrian was pushed into traffic headed southbound and was struck again, said Dugan.
Leyba was transported to Banner UMC with life-threatening injuries, but later died at the hospital.
Leya was not in a marked crosswalk, according to Dugan. Speed and impairment are not believed to be factors in the collision, he said.
