It's very common for Americans to celebrate the 4th of July with fireworks and sparklers, but it is important to note that some of those plans might be illegal and can result in fines, misdemeanors or felonies.

While it's legal to purchase pop caps and sparklers, it's actually illegal to use those sparklers in city limits and light torches.

As for those big fireworks that fly in the air and explode, those are both illegal to buy and use in city limits.

No matter how legal or illegal a firework is, if it ends up damaging property, the person using it could end up with a misdemeanor charge.

Celebrating with gunshots is also a bad idea and shooters could end up with a felony, even if no one is injured and nothing is damaged.
