Tucson Fire investigators are trying to determine what started an eastside apartment fire Tuesday night.

Fire Captain Andy Skaggs says a neighbor reported smoke coming into his apartment around 9:30 p.m. and that he could see flames from the unit next door.

Firefighters first on scene say they saw smoke coming from a window and flames from the front door. Crews were able to get the blaze under control within minutes.

Skaggs says no one was home at the time, but the man who was living there at the time did arrive while firefighters were still at the apartment complex.

A man in his 40s was displaced and will stay with family while the apartment is repaired.

No word on what started the fire, but it did start in the kitchen.

The man will be staying with family and will also receive assistance from the Red Cross.
