Firefighters rescue horse from pool

Posted

Authorities say Phoenix firefighters had to save an unusual cowboy from a pool - a horse named Cowboy, that is.

KPHO-TV in Phoenix reports Phoenix firefighters pulled Cowboy from a Phoenix pool on Saturday after a neighbor spotted water rippling around the 1,100-pound equine.

The horse's owner, Gail Stone, believes her donkey, Bernie, chewed a chain on a neighbor's gate to allow for Cowboy to escape and grab a swim.

Stone says she got in the pool with the horse, then put on a bridle and a lead rope to try to get Cowboy out.

Firefighters eventually rescued the horse by using a hose to hoist him out.

Stone says Cowboy was hyperventilating but eventually calmed down.
