Four rabbits were rescued by firefighters after a home on the eastside caught fire Saturday morning.

According to TFD, units were on the scene at 3:35 a.m. in the 1700 block of South Regina Cleri and reported smoke and flames coming from the rear of the structure.

While one crew battled the fire from the outside, another crew entered the home and searched for occupants. Nobody was inside, but they did find and rescue 4 rabbits from the home.

TFD says that one of the rabbits was lethargic, but after being treated they were reunited with the others.

The person living in the home was not home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries to the firefighters. The flames were put out in 23 minutes.

The cause has been determined to be from burning weeds the previous day.

This is the third house fire this year caused by burning weeds in a yard.
