Firefighters make progress on Frye Fire

The Frye Fire seven miles southwest of Safford has increased to 6,305 acres at 16 percent containment.

The Frye Fire burning 7 miles southwest of Safford is now 39 percent contained.

According to the Coronado National Forest, the fire has burned an estimated 38,395 acres. About 100 firefighters are on the scene.

The lightning-caused fire began on June 7.
