A relative pulled a toddler from the family pool Sunday evening after the Tucson Fire Department says the boy wandered into the pool area and fell in.

The boy was under water for about one minute, the boy’s family told firefighters. After the boy was pulled from the water his father performed CPR with coaching from a 911 operator.

When first responders arrived firefighters rushed the child to the hospital. Firefighters did not know his condition as of Sunday night.

The family said they were unloading the car after arriving at the home near 4th Street and Craycroft Road when someone noticed the boy was missing. A relative pulled the toddler from the pool.

TFD Captain Andy Skaggs says this is the third near-drowning in Tucson this year caused in part because a pool fence or barrier wasn’t working properly.
