Rural Metro Fire in Pima County is installing new signs in an effort to save infant lives.
The all-new Safe Baby Haven signs increase awareness about Arizona's Safe Haven Law.
The law states that a person will not face criminal charges for leaving an unharmed newborn baby with a Safe Haven Provider, including hospitals, fire stations, on duty emergency medical technicians, and designated churches. It is important to note that the baby cannot be left unattended. It must be physically turned over to the provider, RMFD said.
The signs were provided by the Arizona Safe Baby Haven Foundation. They also provided information to update training for firefighters and provided decals to be placed on ambulances.
