A family of six was displaced after their home caught fire Thursday.
According to TFD, home is located in the 2200 block of West Painted Sunset Circle. Firefighters say the blaze was started by a 10-year-old child.
Crews arrived on scene at 4:10 p.m. and controlled the fire in 16 minutes.
Fire investigators determined that the boy set a Christmas tree on fire which then spread to a mattress that was leaning against the house.
We would ask that all families discuss the dangers of lighters and matches and remind kids to never play with either. Also, parents should ensure that lighters/matches are in a secure location that kids can't access, TFD said.
