Fire in utility room threatened midtown apartments

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Tucson Fire is investigating after multiple callers reported seeing flames coming from an exterior, utility room at a midtown apartment complex.

Firefighters got the call around 6 p.m. Sunday about the incident near Speedway and Country Club. When a crew got to the scene, firefighters say they saw the utility room fully engulfed and was threatening apartment units.

The flames were under control within minutes and no one was hurt.

Building Safety/ Code Enforcement responded to determine which apartments are safe to occupy. One person was displaced and is getting assistance from the Red Cross.
