Tucson Fire was requested by South Tucson Fire for assistance at a house fire in the 300 block of West 30th Street early Saturday morning, according to Capt. Andy Skaggs.
A unit from South Tucson Fire was dispatched to the house fire around 1:30 a.m. Smoke and flames were visible from the road.
As South Tucson Fire was responding they could see smoke and requested aid from Tucson Fire.
South Tucson Fire provided the initial fire attack while Tucson Fire helped with water supply and back up.
A Tucson Fire unit cut a hole in the roof to lower the temperature of the fire and to increase visibility for the crews.
In total, one South Tucson unit with four firefighters and eight units with 21 firefighters from Tucson Fire responded to the call.
The fire was contained 18 minutes after crews arrived.
No firefighters or residents were hurt from the fire.
Skaggs says the fire started in the bedroom. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
South Tucson Police say officers located a subject near the scene who made unsolicited statements about the fire.
Officers detained the man and detectives from South Tucson Police responded.
Following an interview, 18-year-old Gerald Garavito was arrested and charged with Arson of an Occupied Structure and Criminal Damage, both felony charges.
Garavito was booked into the Pima County Jail.
South Tucson Police say it is unclear who was inside the home at the time of the incident.
The property owner of the home who lives in California has been contacted.
