Tucson Police have identified the man who died in the single-car crash on Tucson's east side this morning as 18-year-old Randy Allan Woltz.

A TPD news release said that Woltz was heading west at a high rate of speed on Tanque Verde Road, at 4:30 a.m. when he lost control near a curve.

The car drove over the raised curb and struck a palm tree, the news release said.

Woltz, the only person in the vehicle, died at the scene.

Detectives found alcohol containers and marijuana paraphernalia in the car. Woltz was also not wearing his seatbelt, the news release said.

Any impairment may be determined through medical records, the news release said.
