Tucson police are investigating a fatal collision that happened Friday night on the east side.

Officials say the collision was between two vehicles.

According to Sgt. Dugan with TPD, when Tucson Fire arrived they found one of the vehicles, a Chevrolet Camaro, flipped over and fully engulfed in flames with the driver trapped inside.

Firefighters began battling the fire, but the male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as 22-year-old Austin Ortiz.

Police say the Camaro collided with the front end of a Toyota Camry after weaving in and out of three lanes of traffic at a high-rate of speed. After colliding with the Camry, the Camaro flipped over and caught on fire.

The driver of the Camry was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected during the collision. She was transported to Banner UMC and is currently in critical, but stable condition.
