Fans -- eagerly awaiting to find out how the Arizona Wildcats would be seeded for the 2017 NCAA Tournament -- at various bars on University Blvd. When it was announced the Cats would be a #2 seed -- they were pleased and eager to see what they can do. One fan said he believes this squad has what it takes to make a deep run.
"I think they can take it all the way this year," Victor Jacobs said.
His father, Elizardo Jacobs, is an Arizona alumnus. He compared this year's team to the 1997 team that brought the U of A it's first and only national championship title.
"I think they're great, it's a good team," he said. "They play well, they play consistent, and I think they've got a lot of talent, the coach has done a great job."
Byron Patton is a big Wildcat basketball fan and explained he loves the basketball culture it brings to the city. He thinks the team is clicking at the perfect moment -- just before the Big Dance.
"I think this might be the team that gets into the Final Four," Patton said. "The way Coach Miller is using his bench, and the way the team has come together with the right chemistry and the right effort. I've got high hopes, I think this will be the year."
These fans plan on staying in town to watch the Cats try and make their way through the tournament. However, many fans will make the trip to see the team play in Salt Lake City -- a 12 hour drive that's 800 miles away.
The #2 Wildcats face #15 North Dakota on Thursday, March 16, at 6:50 p.m. Arizona time in Salt Lake City.
