TUCSON, Ariz. — A Tucson family is pleading for information and looking for justice two years after loved ones were found dead west of Tucson.

Carlos Mendoza and Javier Gomez were found with obvious signs of trauma in a home west of Ajo and Kinney on Feb. 22, 2018.

As the second anniversary of their death creeps closer, family members still have questions about what happened to them and why.

Cassandra Gomez tells KGUN9 her brother, Javier, was partially blind and handicapped.

"For someone to have done what they did to my brother -- it's not humane," Gomez said.

She says Mendoza was the father of her son, and had recently gotten out of jail and was trying to turn his life around.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department still has not released a cause of death, but say they are actively investigating.

Gomez says she knows there might be people who know what happened, and she hopes she'll have justice by next year's anniversary.
