Families run from extreme heat to Mount Lemmon during Father's Day

The days go by and temperatures continue to rise.

This forced many families to find alternatives for where to go to celebrate Father's Day without having to remain indoors.

For many, the answer was Mount Lemmon. Officials say the majority of the campgrounds for day-use/picnic areas were taken and parking was limited.

Mount Lemmon serves as a quick escape to a different climate and for many families who didn't want to drive several hours to find another place to celebrate Father's Day out of the heat, it was the perfect place.

Temperatures reached 107 degrees in Tucson and in Mount Lemmon the heat remained in the low 90s.
