GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) - A former elementary school teacher in the Phoenix area has been convicted of sexually abusing a 13-year-old student.
Brittany Zamora pleaded guilty Monday to charges of sexual conduct with a minor, attempted molestation and public sexual indecency.
According to court records, the 28-year-old former teacher of Las Brisas Academy in Goodyear sent nude photos to boy.
Authorities say Zamora then had multiple sexual encounters with the sixth-grade student in the classroom and in her car.
She was arrested in March 2018 after the parents discovered text messages between Zamora and the child.
Zamora is scheduled to be sentenced on July 12.
The boy's parents have filed a lawsuit against Zamora, her husband and the school district, seeking $2.5 million in damages.
