Emerge! Center Against Domestic Abuse is hosting a domestic abuse 101 workshop on Monday, July 16.

The three-hour long workshop will teach community members the warning signs to look out for if they believe they know or see someone in an abusive relationship.

The workshop will give those who attend helpful tips on what they can do if they find themselves in an abusive relationship.

"We go over the warning signs, the cycle of abuse, things that people should know if they're experiencing abuse in their own relationship or if they're watching someone else experience abuse in their relationship," said Lauryn Bianco with Emerge!.

In 2017, the Tucson Police Department and the Pima County Sheriff's Department received more than 13,000 domestic violence related calls. Bianco says the the workshops purpose is to help as many people impacted by domestic violence as possible.

The workshops are held quarterly throughout the year.
