A backyard workshop went up in flames on the east side this afternoon around 1:15 p.m. as a result of weed burning with a propane torch.
According to the Tucson Fire Department, when fire crews arrived at the house near S. Pantano Rd. and E. Nicaragua Dr., the backyard workshop was approximately 60% involved in flames.
The owners of this property were taking precautionary measures by using a garden hose to wet down the area, but there was still serious structure damage, according to a media release from TFD.
It took eight minutes for the 8 units and 21 firefighters to get the fire under control.
There were no injuries and nobody was displaced.
According to TFD, "the residence was not damaged despite being very close to the workshop."
