Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey has ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff in remembrance of the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks 17 years ago on the East Coast.
Flags are to remain at half-staff from sunrise to sunset Tuesday.
Terrorists used hijacked planes to crash Sept. 11, 2001, into the World Trade Centers, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the attacks.
In a statement, Ducey says as Americans mourn "every life lost and recall the evil of that day, we also remember the extraordinary patriotism, bravery and sacrifice of so many police officers, firefighters, first responders and good Samaritans who ran toward danger and gave their lives to save others."
