Gov. Doug Ducey appointed Janet Calkins Bostwick to Pima County Superior Court Tuesday.

Bostwick told KGUN9 she expects to replace retiring judge Stephen C. Villarreal Aug. 29.

"Janet is an experienced employment lawyer with strong roots in Pima County," Ducey said in a statement. "Her impeccable reputation as a person of the highest integrity and her dedication to the rule of law made her an excellent choice for the bench. I am confident that Janet will serve the citizens of Pima County with distinction."

Bostwick currently serves as Senior Compliance Consultant for the University of Arizona's Office of Institutional Equity.

A University of Arizona grad, Bostwick previously practiced civil law at her own firm, Office of Janet C. Bostwick. She also served as in-house counsel for Raytheon Company. She plays oboe and English horn for the Foothills Phil.
