A family member called and reported that a man was stabbed by his brother in the chest.

The victim, a 41-year-old male, was transported by air ambulance to a local emergency room for treatment of a punctured lung. He is currently listed in stable condition.

The suspect, identified as 38-years-old Michael D. Etheridge, was arrested outside their home at 6:30 p.m.

Both the victim and his brother, Michael, had been consuming alcohol throughout the day. There was a disagreement between them over Michael's teenage daughter. A physical fight ensued and was broken up by their mother.

Clark says Etheridge is currently in custody at the Pinal County Jail awaiting charges for 2-counts of aggravated assault.

Sheriff Paul Babeu said, “A family member who witnessed the second altercation told detectives that the victim stepped inside the house and accused his brother of trying to stab him. Michael then pushed their elderly mother to the ground and both brothers went back outside and fought again.”

“It was during the second fight that Michael stabbed his brother in the torso with a small pocket knife, puncturing a lung. Michael then fled the scene, but was found a short time later hiding on the property," said Babeu.
