The Arizona Department of Public Safety is welcoming its first female commander for highway patrol.
DPS says Major Jenna Mitchell will be promoted to Lieutenant Colonel on Saturday and will become the department's assistant director for the highway patrol division.
Mitchell is a 26-year veteran who started with the agency more than two decades ago, and has since held positions in the agency support, criminal investigations and highway patrol divisions.
