PHOENIX (AP) - Fire officials say an explosion at a north Phoenix building sent about 50 people scrambling but nobody was hurt.
The Phoenix Fire Department says the blast occurred Saturday morning and shattered windows on the first floor of a building near 24th and Peoria avenues.
Firefighters believe the explosion occurred in an underground electrical vault.
People who were inside the building managed to exit safely.
Witnesses say there was a fire but firefighters declared the area under control by 10:45 a.m.
A hazmat team and the local utility are monitoring the situation.
The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
