TUCSON, Ariz. - Last Tuesday the City of Tucson officially sold the former VFW building to developer, Ross Rulney.
The former VFW building, which is located at 124 E. Broadway, was most recently the Access Tucson building, but has sat empty for years now, according to councilman Steve Kozachik.
In order to purchase the building, Rulney did have to agree to terms set by the city council.
The first term was Rulney would preserve the outside look of the building, because of its historic background.
Another term consisted of Rulney agreeing to invest one million dollars into the renovation of the building within 30 months of the purchase.
If at the end of the 30-month period the second term isn't met, the city hasd the option to buy the building back from Rulney.
Councilman Kozachik told KGUN9 the purpose behind setting those terms was to make sure something is done with the building and it doesn't sit empty for much longer.
As for what the building will turn into, Rulney told KGUN9 that is still up for discussion.
"I'm no where near 100% sure. It's going to be some mixed use project. It could have a retail office and or residential component to it but more than that I just haven't gotten my arms around it yet," said Rulney.
